Big Bear Urgent Care has extended its hours of operation to better serve the Big Bear Valley during the thriving skiing and snowboarding season. Situated at 41947 Big Bear Boulevard in the Summit Plaza, the facility will provide care with new schedules throughout the winter months.
Currently, through January 13th, the Urgent Care is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. Following this period, from January 14th through February 14th, the hours will shift to 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. exclusively on weekends. These hours are subject to change and may be further extended, depending on staffing availability and prevailing snow conditions.
Equipped with two experienced providers, Big Bear Urgent Care handles a variety of medical needs. Services include X-rays, treatment for minor infections, sprains, strains, bumps, bruises, and common seasonal illnesses. Additionally, the center collaborates with local employers to conduct pre-employment physicals and various testing requirements.
The facility welcomes all types of insurance plans. For patients opting to pay out-of-pocket, discounted prices are available. Big Bear Urgent Care has been an integral part of the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District’s network of care for just over two years, providing accessible health services locally.
Evan Rayner, Chief Executive Officer of the Bear Valley Community Healthcare District (BVCHD), emphasized the facility's mission. He stated that the goal is to continue delivering "first class care to our residents and guests" so they can receive necessary services close to home within the Big Bear Valley.
Beyond the Urgent Care, BVCHD is actively working to enhance healthcare options across the community. The district is continuing its efforts to hire skilled providers and expand its range of services to meet local needs. In the past year alone, BVCHD has introduced several new services, including in-patient dialysis, specialized cardiology services, Full Spectrum Pulmonary Function tests, and expanded on-call and emergency surgery capabilities.
BVCHD accepts most major insurance plans and maintains a working relationship with Veterans Affairs to provide care for military service members.
